FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT PLAN
SCHOOLS’ LIAISON OFFICER
Purpose of Job
To ensure that the aims and targets of the Sutton United Football Development Plan (FDP) are met in respect of partnerships and liaison with schools within the London Borough of Sutton.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To establish high quality School-Club links.
- These links to be mutually beneficial to both the respective school and SUFC.
- The ‘partnership’ to be confirmed in a clearly defined ‘contract’ which sets out all expectations and deliverables from both sides.
- To establish regular contact with the Borough’s School Sport Co-ordinator (SSCO).
- Liaise with the Club’s Colts’ Development Officer to ensure full utilisation of resources in terms of skills and expertise.
- Help schools promote a healthy, active lifestyle.
Activities, skills, knowledge and experience
- Realising ambition, develop talent and progress in schools’ football.
- Raising awareness of how to join and regularly participate in a FA Community club such as SUFC as a player, coach or volunteer.
- Enable lifelong partnerships and participation beyond school life.
- Encourage skilled players to join the club initially through the Colts’ set-up and thus increase the pool of talent within the Club.
- Explore the use of school football facilities and maximise the use of the Football in the Park Pavilion Monday to Friday.
- Organise regular School/Club events to promote football in the borough for all.
- Share good practice with other Community Club School Partnerships.
- Attend necessary Surrey FA courses on schools’ related issues and improve expertise and knowledge.
- Possess relevant CRB certificate.
Additional requirements
- Be prepared to visit schools during term time and the working day.
- Liaise not only with Borough SSCO but also school PE teacher.
- Explore additional funding streams via the relevant agencies.
- Arrange for SUFC coaches to visit schools and conduct training sessions.
- Create sustained links between Sutton Utd FC and schools in the borough.
- Draw up contracts between the school and the club based on the Surrey FA model.
- To operate in accordance with the structure set out below and report to the Football Development Officer.
