Friendly
Sutton United 0 (0) - Millwall 2 (0)
The U's ended up as slightly unlucky losers of this second home friendly against professional opposition, who provided the stiffest test to-date of Ian Hazel's new-look side.
The first half was quite even, with both defences generally on top of two lively attacks. Chances were few and far between but Henry should have done better when he headed Pestle's cross too close to the keeper and Noel shot straight into Williams' midriff after turning in from the left. U's were well on top for the first quarter of an hour after the break and should have wrapped the game up. The impressive Edwards was lucky not to let McBean's shot wriggle through his grasp, catching the ball again as he turned round, but was left helpless a minute later when Henry's 30-yard screamer crashed against his post. Scarborough then popped up on the right but his inviting cross was volleyed over the bar from 6 yards by the unmarked Henry. Tanner then sprang the offside trap but Edwards was out quickly to deny him on the edge of the box. Millwall took a surprise 64th minute lead when Wilson failed to hold onto a 25-yard skimmer and James tucked away the loose ball. In the last 20 minutes Millwall's fitness began to tell and U's lost shape as the changes were rung. When Pestle took too long to clear in the 72nd minute Noel too advantage, with a firm shot that wriggled under Wilson.
