The club staged its annual dinner last night, although there was one notable absentee. Paul Doswell phoned in sick at the last minute, leaving Alan Payne to deliver his very own Britain's Got Talent moment.

Perhaps the most important moment of the evening came when Operations Director Keith Cooper announced A-Plant's continuing major sponsorship for next season. He also named Jason Goodliffe as the Sponsor's Player of the Year.  Other awards went to:

Dan Faulkner - Youth Team Player of the Year

Tom Kavanagh - Reserve Team Player of the Year

Jazz Gold - Reserve Team Players' Player of the Year

Jazz Gold - Ralph Carr Memorial Trophy, Young Player of the Year

Sonny Cobbs - Andrew James Memorial Trophy, Players' Player of the Year

Kevin Scriven - Player of the Year

John James - Clubman of the Year

As Paul sticks with his promise to retain the nucleus of this season's squad, Karim El-Salahi and Bradley Woods Garness both signed new contracts. It had been hoped that three further members of the squad would re-sign last night but that had to be put on hold because of Paul's illness and we all wish him a speedy recovery.  There is no truth in the rumour that his illness is in fact a burnt ear caused by spending so long on the phone to players this week!
