Sutton United were defeated 1-0 today at Gander Green Lane in their pre-season friendly encounter with Staines Town. Marc Charles-Smith scored the only goal of the game after just 56 seconds,  but U's performance was worth a draw at least, with Tom Davis hitting the post, Bradley Woods-Garness denied by a fine save and Richard Jolly, Sam Page, Karim El-Salahi and Jerson Dos Santos all missing good chances.
