Striker Jerson Dos Santos (pictured below with some of the Asda staff) and club officials Mike Bidmead and Clive Soper were on hand earlier this month to help Asda Sutton officially open a new pharmacy department at the Sutton High Street store.

In what is a welcome arrival for Sutton residents, the new department follows a three-year campaign by Asda to make pharmacies more accessible to the community. Free consultations are available for everyone, including blood pressure monitoring, full lipid cholesterol testing, BMI checking and diabetes testing.

The Asda Sutton pharmacy also has a consulting room where confidential matters can be discussed in privacy with a member of the pharmacy team. In addition, the pharmacy offers customers free collection of repeat prescriptions from their doctors.

Club Chairman Bruce Elliott commented; “It’s great that Asda has added this new and invaluable service to its Sutton store. Our players know that fitness is not just about what you look like, but also keeping healthy on the inside is just as important. With free tests for everyone and impartial advice about the best products on the market, Asda Sutton’s new pharmacy will be a great place to get invaluable health advice.”

The new pharmacy is be open from 8am-11pm Monday, 7am-11pm Tuesday-Friday, 7am–10pm Saturday, and 11am-5pm on a Sunday. With its late-night opening, it will be ideal for those customers with busy schedules or for any late night emergency.

Speaking about the new pharmacy, Asda Sutton’s Head Pharmacist, Rick Loughbridge, believes it will be of great benefit to the local community; “We’ve worked closely with the local Primary Care Trust to create this new department and we believe that by offering extended opening hours, we’ll be providing an invaluable service that makes healthcare advice readily available to all, without the need for an appointment.”
