Ahead of the FA Cup First Qualifying Round games this Saturday, when the U's will be at home to Alton Town, there's a chance to see the cup itself in Sutton this week.
Having won the rights to show FA Cup games this season, when TV company ESPN were looking for a venue to host an FA Cup feature on grassroots involvement in the world’s greatest cup competition they looked no further than the U's. We are not only famous for our giantkilling acts but are leading the way for football in the area with our ambitious Football Development Plan. Naturally, we were very pleased to accept the invitation. The FA Cup will be in attendance.
We are delighted to have been selected by Surrey FA and ESPN to host a kids' training session on Wednesday this week at The Lane. It will be run by ESPN's Ray Stubbs and Surrey FA's Tesco Coaching Team. Twenty players from SUFC Juniors will be joined by thirty youngsters from other Surrey based Charter Standard clubs for the afternoon.
ESPN will also be hosting a 'Pub Evening FA Cup Q&A' at The Old Bank, Sutton High Street, between 8pm and 9pm, the FA Cup trophy will be on display and on hand to answer questions will be Sutton United legends Matt Hanlan and Tony Rains together with Ray Stubbs and Geoff Thomas.
