A year to the weekend after a 3-2 win against Aveley at Gander Green Lane, Sutton welcome the Essex side again tomorrow, looking to follow up Tuesday night's win over Croydon Athletic with three points against another side in the lower reaches of the table. Having like Sutton been beaten semi-finalists in the playoffs last season, Aveley have struggled this term after the departure of manager Rod Stringer to Braintree in the summer, but two league wins since the turn of the year have seen them climb one place above the relegation zone. They have won five games in all, with four of those victories against sides also currently in the bottom six, but enjoyed a good win at Canvey Island on Tuesday in the Essex Senior Cup, a competition in which they have also beaten Braintree this season, and U's will have to be aware of striker Tamer Tuna, signed on loan from Charlton and the scorer of all three goals on Tuesday. The Aveley squad is also likely to include Kenny Beaney, who made a handful of appearances for Sutton at the start of last season.
Sutton will wait to see if Tom Davis and Bradley Woods-Garness have recovered from the knocks they picked up on Tuesday, although Karl Murray should be fit and Kennedy Adjei may also return after his shoulder injury at Bury.
