Sutton came from a goal down to beat Aveley 2-1 at Gander Green Lane this afternoon. Despite dominating the first half they trailed at the break to a 44th minute penalty after Darren Ebsworth had handled, but within fifteen seconds of the start of the second half U's had a penalty of their own when Andy Forbes was brought down and Craig Dundas equalised. Sam Page headed the winner just after the hour mark. Full report, with photos, here and Paul Doswell's views here.
Meanwhile defender Alan Bray completed a full 90 minutes in the reserves' 1-1 draw at Eastleigh. Michael Bello was the scorer.
Later this evening Sutton completed the signing of Leroy Griffiths from Staines. The experienced striker, who began his career in U's reserves, has subsequently played for QPR and Gillingham as well as a number of non-league clubs.
