Sutton were held to a goalless draw at Aveley today, with their lead at the top of the Ryman League table reduced to five points by Bury's single goal win at home to Croydon Athletic. U's and Bury meet next week at Gander Green Lane. In a scrappy game on an awful Mill Field surface U's struggled in the first half but dominated the second without being able to grab the vital goal, Simon Downer coming closest with the last kick of the game when his volley hit the bar. The reserves' poor recent form continued with a 2-0 home defeat against Carshalton.  Report here. Their next game is on Wednesday at home to Metropolitan Police, at Banstead kick off 7.30. Meanwhile the youth team are in action twice this week, away at Carshalton on Monday night and away at Met Police on Thursday night.
