Sutton are scheduled to entertain Eastbourne Borough at Gander Green Lane tomorrow afternoon but the game will be subject to a Saturday morning pitch inspection as the freezing weather this week has left the pitch very hard.
Should the game go ahead it will be Eastbourne's first under their new management team of Tommy Widdrington and Alan Kimble, who will be looking to revive the Sussex club's fortunes after a run of eight league games without a win which has seen them slump close to the relegation zone and led to the departure of long-standing manager Garry Wilson last month, their form this season a surprise to those who would have expected to see them battling to regain the Blue Square Premier place they lost last season. The new management team will have to start their Eastbourne careers without goalkeeper Clark Masters and striker Carl Rook, both suspended after being sent off at Tonbridge a fortnight ago.
Sutton, who lost for the first time in eight league games at Eastleigh last week, have Osa Obamwonyi available again after suspension, while Sam Page will be hoping to return after missing the last two games with injury.
The last game at Gander Green Lane between the sides provided perhaps the nadir of U's miserable 2007-08 season, Eastbourne winning 5-1 on their way to promotion, but that was their only victory at the ground in four league visits, Sutton having won twice and one game having finished 0-0. |
