Gerard Mills has been revealed as the Club's new Honorary Secretary, taking over just in time for the start of the new season.
Dave Farebrother has held the post for 9 years but just after Christmas informed Chairman Bruce Elliott that he would like to stand down at the end of the season because of work commitments. Several applicants were seen but long-time supporter Gerard was seen as a good choice.
"I consider it a great honour to be Secretary of this club", said Dave. "We have a very high reputation throughout the game, but it was becoming clear to me that the volume of information now provided and requested even at this level of football was not compatible with the demands of my full-time job. I will be staying on as a Director and as Company Secretary, and will also help Gerard as his Assistant Secretary, but I've stepped back from some of the time-sensitive activities. Somehow I doubt that the overall level of my involvement will drop. In fact, the Chairman has told me that it won't!"
Gerard is looking forward to his new role. "It will be a challenge, coming straight into the role from outside. But I already know the rest of the committee and know that I can rely on Dave, Graham Starns and others to guide me through the first few weeks".
