Latest News   Tonbridge v Sutton preview
20th February 2009

Sutton face another of their rivals for promotion tomorrow when they make their first ever competitive visit to Tonbridge's Longmead Stadium (click here for travel details). Tonbridge have only been members of the Ryman League since the reorganisation of the Pyramid in 2004, and after being relegated at the end of their first season they bounced straight back twelve months later and are now having their best season in the competition, currently lying in third place, seven points ahead of Sutton having played a game more, and looking a good bet to feature in the playoffs at the end of the season. They are unbeaten in their last eight league games, and on their visit to Gander Green Lane in November scored three times in the last five minutes of the first half to lead 3-1 at the break, only to be pegged back by a storming second half performance from Sutton that earned a 3-3 draw and might easily have brought a victory. With Alan Bray sidelined by the thigh injury he sustained against Maidstone last week, U's have signed 18-year-old left back Darren Ebsworth from Millwall on a month's loan, and he will go in to tomorrow's squad.

Meanwhile the clubs' respective reserve teams meet at Gander Green Lane in the Suburban League Cup (kick off 3pm).
