| After ending Hendon's 100% record on Saturday, Sutton face another side to have made a decent start to the season on Tuesday when they entertain Canvey Island, the only side outside the top four in the embryonic league table still to be unbeaten. They began with a goalless draw at Harrow and repeated that scoreline on Saturday at home to Bognor Regis Town, the Sussex side's first point of the season, but between those two draws they came from behind to beat Ashford 2-1 at Park Lane last Tuesday. This is Canvey's second season back at Premier Division level after their promotion through the playoffs in 2008, and they finished last season in 12th position. Sutton, for whom James Hawes remains an injury absentee, won the corresponding fixture 1-0 last September thanks to the first of Billy Dunn's late interventions as a substitute as he scored the winner in injury time. Billy is currently on loan at Margate and repeated that trick on Saturday, coming on to score a last minute winner and give them their first points of the season at home to Boreham Wood. Also out on loan is Billy Chattaway, who has joined Chipstead for a month. |
