| With no first team or reserve game this week, Sutton's youth team take centre stage when they play Colliers Wood United at Gander Green Lane on Wednesday in the 2nd qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup. It promises to be a close game, with both sides still unbeaten this season, Colliers Wood having won four and drawn one of their five games in the Central Division of the Southern Youth League and U's having won one and drawn two in the Ryman Youth League. The sides have had similar passages to this stage, with Sutton's 5-0 preliminary round victory over Epsom one goal short of the 6-0 triumph for Colliers Wood against Chichester, and then narrower victories in the 1st qualifying round, Sutton 2-1 at Cobham and Colliers Wood 3-2 at home to Worthing United. The winners on Wednesday will be at home in the 3rd qualifying round to the winners of Thursday's tie between Whitstable and Margate, just one victory away from a place in the competition proper and the chance of a game against Football League opposition. |
