MATCH POSTPONED DUE TO WATERLOGGED PITCH
Two months almost to the day since beating Guildford City in the last round, Sutton hope to play their Surrey Senior Cup quarter final tonight at Croydon Athletic, who finally beat Crystal Palace 6-2 a fortnight ago, but heavy rain means that the game has been called off after a 3.30 inspection. Still involved in the London Senior Cup, where they play Fisher next Wednesday i the quarter final, and only beaten in the semi final of the Championship Manager Cup last week, it's been a hectic time for Athletic, who will be hoping that the fixture congestion doesn't interfere with their main aimof promotion from Division One South of the Ryman League, where they have been the chief beneficiaries of the 10 point deduction imposed on erstwhile leaders Folkestone, and moved three points clear at the top of the table with Tuesday's 3-0 win at Walton. Their mine-up that night included former Sutton goalkeeper Andy Little, plus Bentley Graham, a member of the Sutton squad earlier this season, while they have this week signed Jacob Erskine, who played one game for U's last season. Other familiar names are former Bromely striker Gareth Williams and the experienced former Farnborough midfielder Chris Piper. U's will give a chance to several of this season's successful reserve team, with Jerson Dos Santos, Billy Dunn, Stuart Young and Jazz Gold all expected to feature. There will be extra time and penalties if necessary, and the winners will be at home to Badshot Lea in the semi final.
