Saturday 10 October – Suburban League Premier Division
METROPOLITAN POLICE 0 SUTTON UTD 6
Billy Dunn scored five goals as U’s ran riot at Imber Court to consolidate their place at the top of the Suburban League. He signalled his intent after just four minutes with a shot just over the bar, and a minute later went through to round the keeper only for his shot from a tight angle to be cleared, but he wasn’t to be denied and in the next attack Stefan Cox’s low shot diverted off Dunn to wrongfoot the keeper and put U’s in front. Debutant keeper Nick Taylor then made the first of several good saves, back-pedalling to tip a cross over the bar, but U’s were still on top and midway through the half Jerson Dos Santos, who had earlier missed a good chance through trying to shoot rather than pull the ball back for Daniel Harding, had a low shot parried in to the path of Dunn who scored his second. Police then hit the post twice in four minutes, and drew another good save from Taylor before Dunn’s 25 yard shot looped off a defender and over the keeper to complete his hat trick. Elliot Mitchell had a shot tipped away just before half time, but nine minutes after the break Dos Santos and Dunn combined again, Dos Santos crossing from the right for Dunn to fire home off the keeper, and two minutes later came an action replay except this time Dos Santos attacked down the left before putting Dunn in for his fifth. The keeper made a good save from Harding but was beaten again when Jazz Gold’s first touch since coming on as substitute was to convert another Dos Santos cross. Dos Santos almost scored himself but was denied by the keeper, while two more stunning reflex saves from Taylor prevented the Police from scoring what would have been a deserved consolation goal.
