Tuesday 10 November – Suburban League
WHYTELEAFE 0 SUTTON UTD 2
With a number of Suburban League regulars on first team duty at Horsham, U's still produced an impressive performance at Church Road to restore their nine point lead at the top of the table. The first chance after a scrappy opening fell to Josh Gallagher, who was teed up by Stefan Joseph to hit a 20 yard shot that was well saved, and Joseph himself had a header from a corner blocked on the line. Youth team striker Bajrush Halili might have done better with one chance after Joseph had put him through on the right, but he made amends two minutes before half time when he capitalised on a bad back pass and rounded the keeper before giving U's a deserved lead. U's continued to have the better of things after the break, with Robbie Drewett rattling the crossbar with a long range effort, and with twenty minutes left Joseph took possession after a midfield tussle and powered his way to the edge of the penalty area before firing home. Two minutes later an off the ball incident saw a Whyteleafe player sent off, and before the end Gallagher went close with a volley which bounced just wide.
