SUTTON UTD 0 BOREHAM WOOD 3
With Boreham Wood's first team not having a game, several of the squad that had faced Sutton in Blue Square Bet South games over the Christmas/New Year period featured in this meeting, and the result was a comfortable win for the visitors, who would have had a wider margin of victory but for some wasteful finishing. U's almost took an early lead when a Rob Hughes free kick was well saved by visiting keeper Michael Jordan, who had impressed at Meadow Park on Boxing Day, but none minutes before the end of a relatively uneventful first half a long clearance found U's defence uncertain and a Boreham Wood player fired past Toni Dulgheru, who was slightly slow off his line. Hughes had Jordan back-pedalling to tip over another long range free kick just before the break, and early in the second half Matt Reece shot across goal, but Boreham Wood began to take control and spurned several chances, while Dulgheru made one fine save and Elliott Tomkins was forced in to a timely interception to deny an opponent a shot ten yards out. Fifteen minutes from time, though, a well-judged curling 20-yard shot caught Dulgheru slightly off his line to double the lead, and a corner led to the third with three minutes left when the ball was played over the U's defence and an angled shot went across Dulgheru and in off the post.
