Sutton United's 5 year tenure at the highest level of Non-league football ended in season 90-91, although the U's did end the season with silverware after winning the Bob Lord Trophy beating Barrow 6-1 in the 2 legged final. This season also heralded the beginning of the satellite age with Sutton's game at Kettering going out live to those who had a dish big enough, a match that ended in a 5-2 defeat and sealed relegation back to the Isthmian league.
