Sutton go on to finish 5th behind champions Chesham United but will probably be remembered for the fact that Carshalton Athletic came 4th some 12pts ahead. The silverware this season came courtesy of the Surrey Senior Cup, but the U's did come very close to their 4th Wembley appearance after pulling off a fantastic 3-2 win at Adams Park against high flying Wycombe Wanderers. Alas a week later in front of a capacity crowd at GGL of 5002 Sutton were unable to cling on to that slender lead with Wycombe running out 6-3 winners on aggregate.
