Sutton Started their Season 2008-09 FA Cup campaign with a home tie against Ryman League one side Cray Wanderers. On a late summers afternoon U's were quickest out of the blocks taking the lead on just 3 mins through Gavin McCallum, but any thoughts of a easy afternoon were soon extinguish as Crays drew level through Atkins just 7 minutes later. Although Sutton were mainly in charge of the game they had to wait until just before the break to regain the lead through Steve West, Craig Dundas added a 3rd on 70 mins but Cray continued to be a threat with their best player of the afternoon Sterling causing U's defence some discomfort.
