Boost the Budget – the final push

19 August 2016

Great news over the last week as the “Boost the Budget” share initiative sum soared to a total of £34,800, helped in no small way by a fantastic gesture by long-standing U's fan, Mark Bravery (aka Amber Aleman), whose tremendously generous £4,000 contribution to the fund enabled the scheme to reach 87% of the £40,000 total which the manager targeted at the start of the campaign. Mark was delighted to be able to help boost the scheme, saying: “It has been an exhilarating start to the season in the National League, but there are a lot of testing games to come and an extra few thousand pounds in the playing budget could give the club that added edge as we go through to next spring. The season ticket offer has helped to boost crowds, which is great news, and if just ten of the supporters who bought those superb-value tickets can now afford to invest in ten shares each then we can hit the target and be really confident of continuing to compete at this level of football”. Paul Doswell was delighted to learn that the on-pitch performances so far this season had seemingly acted as a catalyst for this, and other recent contributions to the scheme, commenting: “Everyone at the club is rightly excited about how things have developed over the last few months. Increased attendances, great on-pitch performances and schemes like “Boost the Budget” continue to prove how much we really are all #inittogether at this football club. However, as I mentioned in the post-match interview on Tuesday, this is only the start, and we must ensure we have the appropriate playing budget for the club to stay fully competitive at this level without breaking the bank. It is a long season! For that to happen, reaching (and hopefully) exceeding the £40,000 target for “Boost the Budget” is vital for us to retain and continue to strengthen this tremendous squad of players” Let's get to #target£40000 – full details to be a part of this scheme and YOUR football club are on the website at www.suttonunited.net or you can e mail Dave Farebrother on davef@suttonunited.net or see AB at games home and away.
