One in and Maybe One Out ?

5 August 2016

The club can confirm that we have received a bid from a League club for our England ‘C' international Dan Wishart. Paul Doswell was not surprised and commented, "We have had several clubs make their interest known in Dan and, without doubt, he has all the attributes to play at a much higher level. Clubs from the Championship to League Two, and a Scottish Premiership side, have been in contact and I expect he will leave in this transfer window. He is someone with unbelievable pace, crossing ability and a great work ethic and he fully deserves the chance to play League football. It would be another success story for all involved in Dan's progression at Sutton United but at this moment he is still very much a Sutton player and we will see how the offer from this League club progresses. Dan himself was typically relaxed about the situation. Speaking after Thursday's training session he said, "It's every players dream to play in the Football League and I'm no different. Sutton United have been brilliant with me and I've just signed a new two-year contract and I can't wait for the season to start on Saturday. I need to keep working hard and progressing and see where it takes me, but for now all my focus is on the first game against Solihull Moors." Paul Doswell is delighted to confirm the loan signing of Wales U-19 captain Joe Morrell from Bristol City. " Joe played on Tuesday night and was outstanding, deservedly winning man of the match. He reminded me so much of Harry Beautyman and we all know how good he was. Joe enjoyed the game and asked me if he could be part of the squad this year, particularly the chance to train and learn in a first team environment with midfielders such as Nicky Bailey, Craig Eastmond, Ryan Burge, Bedsia and Shaun Cooper. He also trained very well on Thursday with us and he is an exciting addition to the squad. He will continue to play games for Bristol City's 21s on Mondays and we look forward to helping him with his career progression."
