Catching Up With The Boss

14 June 2016

Paul Doswell was delighted with the news that we had smashed through the £20,000 barrier at the Vanarama National League awards dinner, at Celtic Manor on Saturday night. "Dave Farebrother informed me that we have sold £22,100 of shares on Saturday night and it was brilliant to hear. We're not halfway through June yet and it looks likely that we can hit our ambitious £40,000 target now, before the start of a new and exciting season. I can't emphasise enough how much of a difference this and Strikers Are Key make to our playing budget and I'm truly grateful to all the Sutton Supporters who have backed these important initiatives. If we can sell another £17,900 of shares it will enable me to add another quality striker to the squad and all the monies that have been raised so far have helped retain our excellent squad for next season. We currently have 19 contracted players for next season and some beyond." Currently contracted for next season are:- Ross Worner, Kevin Amankwaah, Jamis Collins, Dean Beckwith, Dan Wishart, Louis John, Simon Downer, Dan Spence, Ross Stearn, Bedsente Gomis, Craig Eastmond, Bradley Hudson-Odoi, Tom Bolarinwa, Nicky Bailey, Ryan Burge, Dan Fitchett, Craig McAllister, Craig Dundas and Shaun Cooper. "We also have Denzel Gerrar and Tommy Wright signed on non-contract terms and hope to secure them good dual-registration loans with Conference South/Ryman Premier teams if they require game time during the season. We thoroughly enjoyed the awards dinner at Celtic Manor and I was delighted to see five of the team make the all-star side. Also, seeing Sutton United host an England C fixture was a very proud moment, as the investment in the infrastructure of the ground paid off with the "old lady"never looking better. To then see Dan Wishart and Louis John play their part, with the latter scoring two goals, rounded off a perfect day. We return to pre-season training on Saturday 2nd July to prepare for the new season and we are really pleased with the pre-season games that have been organised. In particular, Portsmouth's first team will be a great fixture and it's their first Saturday match after their tour to Ireland so we should have a large following from them. Finally the club is working hard on a new website design, that hopefully will be in place for the first game of the season, and it will be another huge step forward in raising the club's profile. With nearly 1,000 season tickets sold, and the feel good factor around the club, it has never been a better time to keep pushing on with our club mantra of All In It Together." Dos
