United In The Community

22 June 2016

After three fantastic years, the club has reviewed the objectives of its award-winning United In The Community programme and drawn on the lessons of the last few years. A decision has been taken to to focus on those areas where the programme has been most successful and, in particular, where the activities can take advantage of the club's superb 3G pitch. As a consequence, the key areas of focus will be:- Sport for young people Sport for persons with disabilities Education Health & well-being Social awareness Sporting activities will, naturally, centre on but not be restricted to football. In terms of the other three focus areas sport, and especially football, will be used as keys to open dialogue with target audiences. For example, health & well-being will include walking football for men over fifty and a variety of dance activities. We want to continue to expand and develop our relationships with local charities, especially in areas around helping people to find work. Expressions of interest are invited in relation to the following three packages:- Package 1: Approx 100 hours per annum. To develop and maintain the club's relationships, short-term and long-term, with local schools and other educational bodies. Package 2: Approx 100 hours per annum. To develop and maintain the club's relationships, short-term and long-term, with charities and other local partners in non-sporting areas that align with our overall objectives. Package 3: Hours as required. To manage and develop the club's disability football programme. The hourly rates are negotiable but will be approximately £11/hour. The club would like to thank the Football Conference Trust for its support, without which the programme could never have started, and also local firm Smith & Byford who are major supporters of the club's work in these areas. Anyone interested in helping the club to deliver its community objectives is invited to indicate their interest by 30th June, to davef@suttonunited.net
