News From The Boardroom

2 May 2016

Regular supporters will have noted the absence of one well-known face during the course of the season. Our Treasurer, Mike Bidmead, was taken ill early in the season and had to spend a considerable period of time in hospital. He is now in a nursing home but we have been advised that he will not be able to return to his duties at the club and is therefore resigning his position as Treasurer and as a Director. Mike began his career in football as a referee, officiating in the old First Division and in Europe, and also served with Woking Football Club before joining Sutton. However he is probably best known for some four decades at the helm of the Suburban League, where he was Chief Executive until a couple of years ago. Mike's wife Val (the "Olive" to his "Blakey") is also a familiar face, helping out as one of the Boardroom Ladies who provide such welcoming hospitality to visiting directors and guests. We would like to thank them both for all of their help and support and we are sure you will all join us in sending our very best wishes to both Mike and Val.
