Community Team Goal-Bonanza

9 October 2016

Both Sutton United Community teams enjoyed a goal-feast against very well organised QPR Trust teams before yesterday's first team game against Woking. Sutton United A 12 [ Mills 8 (eight), Taylor 3, Ford ] QPR A 2 The scoreline may read like an easy win for the Sutton United Community team but this was not the case, QPR A provided a very good test and hit the woodwork on several occasions and proved difficult opponents. However this was going to be Sutton's day, playing the best football since the community team was formed this was a real team performance with all the players playing at their very best. Manager Steve King said " What a fantastic performance for the team. I really don't want to single anybody out but Shaun Mills scoring 8 goals is a fantastic achievement although this really was the complete team performance. I want to thank QPR coach Nathan, who brought two very good teams making it another memorable day." Sutton U's 6 [ Rose 2, West 2, Evans, M Reynolds] QPR 5 A cracking game that ended with the U's winning an 11-goal thriller saw Nick West playing a excellent game up front, holding the ball up and scoring 2 excellent goals. The real hero of the match was the outstanding young Mark Heritage, the U's goalkeeper again made several superb saves and when he faced a late penalty it was no surprise when Mark made an incredible save to secure a fine win for the U's. Man of Match Mark Heritage. Coach Steve Preedy commented "This was another special day for the newly formed U's, with Nick West looking good upfront and young goalkeeper Mark being outstanding: I can't wait for the rest of the season."
