Strikers Are Key 2016-17 nos. 5 & 6

17 September 2016

Ten to three was Strikers are Key time after today's terrific victory against Tranmere Rovers. There were two draws; the fifth of the season in respect of the match last Tuesday v Braintree and, of course, the sixth following today's match against our visitors from the Wirral.Draw 5 of the season in which £400 was up for grabs saw Ball number 24 emerge from the purple velvet bag, the ball owned by Steve Beck and Brian French. Away on official business, Bobby Childs stepped forward on their behalf but chose the wrong key thereby winning the syndicate the £50 consolation prize. Draw 6 of the season which followed swiftly afterwards saw ball 11 make its first appearance of the season, owned by Phil White. Dan Fitchett's goal today increased the prize fund to £650 but, with Phil too late to to make an appearance in the bar on his return today from holiday, Norman Summerfield substituted for him but was unable to choose the right key meaning only £50 is coming Phil's way.It all means that a minimum of £850 will be in the safe ahead of Draw 7 of the season after the game v Guiseley in a fortnight's time. After yielding its contents in the first three draws of the season, the SAK safe is regaining its Scrooge-like reputation with three consecutive unsuccessful attempts to open it.Here's hoping it will be fit for action after "essential repairs" required after today's draws! Thanks to our good sports from Tranmere who helped to conduct today's draws - great to see. See you on Oct 1.
