Sutton United 1-2 Braintree Town - report, photos and reaction

13 September 2016

A spectacular goal in the first minute of stoppage time by Braintree skipper Chez Isaac condemned Sutton to a third consecutive Vanarama National League defeat tonight. U's led in the 35th minute through Nicky Bailey's penalty, but the game turned on the stroke of half time when U's gave the ball away on the edge of their own penalty area and Michael Cheek was brought down by Ross Worner, allowing Isaac to equalise from the penalty spot. Both sides had chances in the second half and U's hopes rose when Ian Gayle was sent off five minutes from time for a foul on Ryan Burge that denied U's substitute a clear run on goal, but Isaac's 30 yard piledriver as U's pushed for a winner proved decisive.
