First summer signing announced

12 May 2017

Manager Paul Doswell has made the first addition to his squad of the close season, signing midfielder Kenny Davis on a two year deal. The 29-year-old spent last season with Boreham Wood, but was previously with Braintree for six seasons, winning the Conference South championship in 2011 and then captaining the Essex side at National League level, leading them to the play-off semi finals in the 2015-16 season and scoring the only goal of their first leg win at Grimsby.  Making nearly 200 appearances at Cressing Road, he was also a regular in the England 'C' side.

Paul is delighted with the signing. ''We've analysed carefully how we need to improve the current squad, and a goal-scoring midfielder with the ability also to contribute assists was an area that we highlighted. I've known Kenny for many years and have always admired him as a player, he's football intelligent and a real winner who will fit into our dressing room ethic. He has played for England C, and speaking to Danny Cowley about Kenny's time with him at Braintree confirmed all I needed to know, that we're getting a top player and person."

Kenny is already looking forward to next season. '' I'm absolutely delighted to be joining Sutton United. It's a club that's been on the rise over the last few years and hopefully over the next few years I can help them achieve more success.  After speaking to Paul and meeting a few members of his team it was an easy decision. I am looking forward to meeting up with my new team mates and getting the season started.''

We're pleased to welcome Kenny to the club and wish him a long and successful stay with us.
