A disappointing performance at York Road saw Sutton drop out of the top three in the Vanarama National League. Maidenhead led 2-0 at the break through a brilliant Harry Pritchard goal and a Jake Goodman header, and U's first half showing was best summed up by a double substitution being made at half time and the third change within ten minutes of the restart. The improvement was marginal, and had Jamie Butler not superbly saved a Pritchard penalty and Adrian Clifton's shot gone under the bar rather than hit it U's would have been out of the game before a last ten minutes in which they could easily have snatched a point. Craig Eastmond's long range volley pulled one back, but Carl Pentney made good saves from Tommy Wright and Ross Stearn, who also dragged a shot across goal when well placed.
