Goodbye to 2018

31 December 2018

So, as the last embers of 2018's candle ebb away we can look back on another memorable year to add to the string of great moments we have enjoyed in recent seasons. For much of the early part of the year we were in a 2-horse race for the Vanarama National League title, only faltering towards the end to finish in 3rd position, our highest ever placing in the English pyramid system. The semi-final defeat at home to Boreham Wood in the play-offs was a disappointment for us all but the players have taken their great form from the last campaign into the 2018-19 season and as the year ends we stand with one more point from 26 games than we had at this stage twelve months ago. It is a very competitive league this season but we are well-placed for another assault on the play-offs. Then, of course, we had the unique opportunity and wonderful mayhem of the Irn Bru Scottish Challenge Cup. It was a diversion from league football but what memories we gained with a famous win at Airdrieonians and then that magical afternoon in Dublin in front of so many Sutton fans, and all in fantastic voice. We have also witnessed titles and great moments for our ladies teams, our Community teams, and many of our junior boys' and girls' sides, plus continuing improvements to and around the stadium. All that is left to do in 2018, then, is for the Directors of Sutton United to wish all of our Supporters, Players, Management and Volunteers

A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR
