United Volunteer Wins National Award

10 June 2018

Tony Henderson-Smith, who was named Volunteer of the Month for April, was further honoured at the National League's gala dinner at Celtic Manor on Saturday night when he was named as the Vanarama National League Volunteer of the Year. We would like to thank the Fan Experience Company for supporting this fantastic new award.

In accepting the award Tony said that he was happy to be the first recipient of this new award but was accepting it on behalf of "all the volunteers at all of the clubs", who all do such a splendid job at their clubs and within their communities.

Chairman of the Board Dave Farebrother commented, "I am delighted that Tony has been recognised for all the hard work that he does.  He was one of the driving forces behind our community initiatives in the early days and has continued to play a big part in so many areas. It really is a thoroughly deserved award and Jenny the Giraffe is over the moon that her friend Tony has been rewarded for all of his efforts.  As a club we are very lucky in having so many people giving their time to help across a wide range of activities, whether it be junior football, disability sport, working with schools or charities and so much more.
