The club was very sorry to hear of the passing on Monday of Isthmian League President Alan Turvey.
Previously a referee on the Isthmian League and then in the old Football League 1st Division, Alan turned to football administration as League Secretary and then as Chairman of the Isthmian League, a position he held from 1982 to 2016, and in 2000 he was deservedly made President of the league that he did so much to shape. Alan was also Club President of Basingstoke Town FC.
Chairman Bruce Elliott said "Alan was a good friend to Sutton United and devoted his life to football. He will be missed by his many friends and family and we send our condolences to his wife Margaret and all who knew him."
