Sutton saw hopes of three points dashed by an 89th minute equaliser from Jonathan Smith, whose injury time goal had earned Chesterfield a draw against Wrexham on Saturday. Jonah Ayunga gave U's the lead eight minutes before half time, but despite having most of the game they were unable to score a second and were punished when Smith scored with Chesterfield's only shot of the evening.
