Sutton United Disability Teams had a very busy and successful weekend.
We entered the first round of the FA Peoples cup competition yesterday, entering 4 teams into 3 different categories of the FA People's Cup Disability section, entering 1 League side, 1 Championship side and 2 Premiership sides.
Sutton Hunters, who were entered in to the league level, played four games in their round winning two and losing two. Unfortunely this wasn't enough to see them through to the next round but all the players enjoyed themselves and managed to play some good football against tough opposition. Nick West getting an honourable mention for scoring 3 of the 4 Hunters goals yesterday.

Sutton Ganders entered the Championship level and played 6 games. They went into the last game needing a point to go through and Ganders defended brilliantly against a very good Mind United side who scored a vital goal in the last seconds of the game. It was a very close battle between Ganders and Mind United, who we also play in the Walton leagues but unfortunely we just missed out on going through to the next round.

Sutton United Yellows were pitched into the top tier of the FA People's cup, Premiership level, and had a difficult day coming up against strong opposition and being without key players on the day. Although the results didn't go their way they played some very good football and were unlucky in a couple of results. On another day things may just have gone their way but it just wasn't meant to be yesterday.
Ryan Ford, Captain:- “It was a difficult day for us missing key players. There were some good individual performances and we'll look to improve as a team for next time. Overall the experience of being involved in these sorts of games is great because it can help us become better players.”

Sutton U's Whites were also placed in the top tier of the FA Peoples Cup, Premiership level. Having assembled the players together that'll be traveling to Belfast to play in the George Best trophy in June, this was a perfect opportunity to see these players together in a 5 aside environment. And they didn't disappoint! It was a superb performance from all the players, getting four wins and two draws which saw them win the tournament on the day and progress to the next round of the FA People's Cup.
Chris Dunn – Player:- “I thought it was a great all round performance. Everyone put in the effort to work and pressed from the front, so we looked solid in defence and going forward, everyone's movement off the ball meant we created so many chances.”
