It was “double Strikers are Key” draw time in the Players' Bar after the U's first-ever match v Stockport County.
Draw 7 of the season ( in respect of the match v Dagenham) saw ball 31 emerge from the purple velvet bag owned by “ The Oddbods”, comprising Graham, Daphne, Simon and Lyn Baker and Judith Tonge. Sadly Graham was unable to choose the right key and his syndicate had to make do with the £50 consolation prize.
The same fate then befell the owners of ball 25 which was next out, owned by “The Management Team”; Matt Gray, Jason Goodliffe, Clive Baxter, Micky Stephens and Bobby Childs. They too had to be content with just £50 as their quest to unlock the safe also proved to be in vain.
That's six draws in a row now in which the safe has proved impregnable and means a minimum of £1600 will be up for grabs in Draw 9 which will be made after the match v Ebbsfleet United on 26th Oct.
Until then! Someone's going to win big soon
