David Ajiboye goes Posh

22 June 2022

We can announce that winger David Ajiboye has today signed for League One Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee on a three year deal.

23-year-old David joined us from Worthing as manager Matt Gray's first signing in May 2019, and went on to make 147 appearances, scoring 19 goals, exciting U's supporters with his pacy and attacking wing play which played a major part in the National League championship success and a fine first season in the EFL, which included reaching the Papa Johns Trophy final in which he set up Craig Eastmond's goal. His brilliant individual goal at Newport in December won the club's Goal of the Season award.

Matt said: ''As my first signing David has been a huge player for us over the past three seasons and a massive part of our success. He's a great lad and a great professional, and I know he has a huge future in the game. The club has a tradition of recruiting good young players and developing them to move up the footballing ladder, and I'm proud that it has continued under my tenure as manager. We will monitor David's progress and of course wish him every success at Peterborough while thanking him for everything he has done for us.''

Matt will be talking to SUFCtv on Thursday about this, and the other news of the summer so far,  as the players return to pre-season training. It's a busy day, with the EFL fixtures for the 2022-23 season released at 9am, followed by the completion of the Papa Johns Trophy draw at 11.30 when one of the invited Under 21 sides will be added to the group that currently contains Sutton, Oxford United and Leyton Orient, and then the Carabao Cup first round draw at 2.30pm. It's also the last day for ordering season tickets for delivery before the pre-season schedule starts in mid-July.
