Richie Bennett has this afternoon joined Barrow for an undisclosed fee after asking to return north for family reasons.
The 31 year old striker was signed at the start of last season and made 52 appearances, scoring six goals including what proved to be the winner at Mansfield on Good Friday (above).
Manager Matt Gray said this afternoon: ''Richie did really well for us and was a great addition to the squad, but I couldn't stand in his way when he said for family reasons he needed to get back to the north where he is based, and we wish him all the best at Barrow.''
Richie sent the following message to Sutton supporters:
'I'd like to start by thanking everyone involved at the club. Since the day I joined every single person has made me welcomed at the club. The gaffer, Jason and all the staff have been unbelievable with helping and supporting while I've been away from home. The players and supporters I'd like to thank and I truly believe there is something special happening with Sutton. The fans have been class and I hope we have made some special memories over the course of the season that will stay with you all for a long time. Wishing you all the best for the future.''
