Hours before Sutton came back to grab a fine point in League Two at Northampton, the academy side were just unable to match that effort, losing 3-2 to Southend at the VBS having at one stage been 3-0 down
After Southend had taken control with three first half goals, Oscar Williams gave U's hope by pulling one back before half time, and the comeback was on when a triallist made it 3-2 early in the second half. However the equaliser eluded U's, who had goalkeeper Thomas Duah sent off in the second half for a foul outside the penalty area.
Our Under 18s are away to league leaders Luton Town, who have a 100% record after seven games, this Saturday, kick off 10.30am at Gipsy Lane, and then face Leyton Orient at the VBS next Tuesday (7.30pm) in the FA Youth Cup first round. Admission is £5 for adults, £3 for concessions and £1 for juniors.
