Women Advance in FA Cup

2 October 2022

Sutton United Women got their FA cup campaign off to a flying start against Ashmount Leigh today, advancing to the next stage after a 3-0 victory.

A sunny afternoon at Meadowbank Stadium in Dorking and a standout performance from Player of the Match, Lily Dent, secured an emphatic victory to kick off the Women's FA Cup campaign. U's went ahead in the 2nd minute after Olivia Watson got on the end of a superb cross from Dent. It was Dent then getting on the scoresheet herself on the stroke of half time, a great pass from Brinkley and an even better finish for Lily to loft it over the keeper.

Onto the second half and U's were in control creating multiple chances. It took until the 81st minute to finish the game off with another goal from Dent. Lily went on to try and get her hat-trick but the opposition goalkeeper was making the saves to deny her.

Finishing 3-0 the Women will be looking forward to the next round which takes place on 23rd October, details to be released in due course.

Next up for the Women's first team is a trip to face Ebbsfleet United in the league on Sunday 9th October, 3pm kick off.

Elsewhere the reserves got a 2-0 win away against AFC Acorns, continuing their fine run of form and still without conceding a goal this season. U21s team unfortunately fell to defeat at Collingwood Rec against Richmond Park.
