Sutton's academy side held off a late comeback from Exeter City to reach the Southern semi finals of the EFL Youth Alliance League Cup with a 3-2 success at Aberdour this morning.
At half time Sutton seemed set for a comfortable victory, James Fennelow scoring twice to make it four goals in three games for the Under 16 striker, and George Vorster, on target at Cambridge last week, again finding the net as U's took control. After the break Exeter came back strongly and pulled two goals back, but U's held on to take their place in the Southern section's last four.
It was a third consecutive win for the youngsters, who get their chance on the VBS pitch next Saturday with a game against Northampton Town, one of only two clubs above Sutton in the South East Division of the league. Kick off is 11am and admission is free, and anyone not travelling to Doncaster will be very welcome to support our hugely promising academy team.
