Sutton's women's team face Enfield Town this afternoon in the London & South East Regional League, kick off 2pm at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium in Donkey Lane.
Enfield are still looking for their first win of the season after four games, with their one point coming from a 2-2 draw with Ashford, who won at Sutton last week. That result at the VBS saw the Kent side move above U's, who go in to today's game in sixth place in the table.
Manager Will Letts has been busy this week, bringing in three new players to our women's first team squad. Laura Murtagh, who plays as a wide midfielder or forward has been with the club for a little while but we needed to wait for her international clearance to come through as she has been playing in her native Australia for Macarthur Rams, based in Campbelltown, New South Wales. In September 2022 Laura featured in the Rams' team that won the state championship play-off 6-5 on penalties. Natasha Hurst, who recently celebrated her 17th birthday, has joined us from Haywards Heath Town, where her performances in their midfield caught the eye. The third newcomer is Alara Tyrer, another teenager, who has been playing for Richmond Park in Division 1 North of the L&SERW League. Alara plays in midfield.
"We have played really well in spells so far this season", Will commented, "But we are looking to build on this and the addition of the new players will give us more competition for places and we are excited to see how far the younger players in our squad will develop.''
Members of our women's team were at the game against MK Dons on Saturday as part of #HerGameToo day, and are pictured below with Matt Gray and directors Micky Joyce and Phil Letts.
There are also games for our reserves and development teams today, with the reserves at home to Richmond Park's development team, playing in Collingwood Recreation Ground at 2pm, and the development team away to Reigate at Reigate College, also at 2pm.
