Jayden Harris joins Sutton

4 June 2024

We are delighted to confirm the signing of Jayden Harris following his departure from Carlisle United.

The Croydon-born midfielder becomes Steve Morison’s fourth signing of the summer, and will add physicality, mobility and versatility to the heart of the U’s team.

A product of the Fulham academy, Harris arrived at Craven Cottage at the age of ten and rose through the ranks, making his debut for the Under-18 squad aged 15 before being selected as part of an Under-19 squad that travelled to the United States, gaining a runners-up medal in the Dallas Cup.

After signing a two-year scholarship with the club in 2016, Harris continued his developing at an impressive rate, and would make several appearances on the bench for Fulham's first team during the 2019/20 season before experiencing his first taste of senior football, playing three times during a one-month loan spell at Woking in 2020.

The midfielder later became the first player to make 100 appearances for the Whites’ Under-23 squad but departed in 2021 in search of first team football, joining Aldershot Town. Featuring 33 times during the 2021/22 campaign as the Shots narrowly avoided relegation, his time at the EBB Stadium saw him enjoy regular senior football for the first time in his career barring a brief temporary switch to Hampton & Richmond Borough at the start of the season. Nonetheless though Harris impressed, and found himself in League Two the following season when Carlisle United announced his move to Cumbria.

The 24-year old’s time at Brunton Park proved to be largely successful, making 18 appearances as the Cumbrians won promotion to League One via the play-offs, although he would play just four times in the third tier before returning to the National League on loan with Eastleigh later in the year.

He played 14 times in all competitions for the Spitfires and returned to his parent club when the move expired in January 2024, departing by mutual consent in June after being unable to break back into the first team.

Speaking on Harris’ arrival, manager Morison said “really thrilled to bring Jayden home back to the big smoke and to give him the chance to thrive and fulfil his undoubted potential. He’s a great age and at stage where he still has lots of stuff to learn but a chance to kick on a go again with us”.

“This signing gives everyone a real sense of all the work hard going on behind the scenes with a recruitment processes. Jayden ticks so many boxes - athletically great, technically efficient and a great kid who just wants to play ball consistently”.

“I can’t wait to see him on the pitch and watch him enjoy his football and help us try to achieve our targets as part of the team”.

Welcome to Sutton United, Jayden Harris
