Nana Boateng joins U's

10 June 2024

We are delighted to confirm the signing of Nana Boateng on a two-year deal following his release from Championship side Millwall.

The promising forward joins following successful loan spells in the National League last season with Woking and Solihull Moors, and is the second player Steve Morison has brought in from his former club after the loan of Nino Adom-Malaki last season.

A Millwall academy product, 21-year-old Nana first arrived at The Den in 2010 aged seven and worked his way up the ranks before being involved with the Lions’ first team squad for the first time, when he was unused substitute in a 1-0 victory over Coventry City at the end of 2021. He then made his debut for the club a week later in a 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Crystal Palace, making it off the bench for the last nine minutes.

In search of regular football, the Lions opted to send him out on loan in order to gain experience, with a six-month deal being agreed with National League side Woking ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. The 21-year old appeared eight times for the Cardinals, offering versatility and plenty of attacking threat and contributing two assists in his first six games, with manager Darren Sarll opting to deploy him as both a striker and a winger.

After the expiry of his deal at the Laithwaite Community Stadium in January, he soon found himself back in the National League on another temporary basis, with promotion hopefuls Solihull Moors adding the forward to their ranks in March 2024. He would add a further six appearances to his season tally, starting three of the final five games of the campaign before featuring as a substitute in both the play-off eliminator round and the play-off final, scoring his spot-kick in the latter as Andy Whing’s side were defeated on penalties against Bromley.

Steve Morison said ''We've had our eye on Nana for a while and we're delighted to give him the platform to push on in his career after a great time at Solihull last season. He's a tricky winger who likes to get the ball in to the box and we are looking forward to seeing his pace and seeing him torment opposition defences.''

We welcome Nana to Sutton United.
