Sutton's women's team finished their London & South East Regional League campaign with defeat at Saltdean this afternoon, the Sussex side strolling to a comfortable 7-0 victory. After keeping the score goalless for the first half hour, Sutton fell behind and then struggled to contain the home side who added six further goals. Sutton's cause was not helped when Laila Malcolm was sent off in the second half.

The result means that we will finish ninth in the table after Enfield's strong finish to the season was continued with a victory over Millwall Lionesses which lifted them above us on goal difference. At the top of the table, Dulwich won 3-0 at Crawley AFC and will be champions barring a twelve goal defeat in their last  game away to Saltdean next weekend, the only remaining game to be played in the league this season.

Development trio May 2024 (2).jpg

Earlier in the week Lucy Clark called up three members of the Development squad, Mollie Sawyer, Lucy Barry and goalkeeper Kacey Berry (above),  for first team training experience, and they played for the first team on Thursday in a public practice game against the reserves, who of course still have the Surrey Divisional Cup final against Leatherhead at Dorking to come at the end of this month (look out for ticket details in the next day or so). Mollie has been with the club since Under 13 level and Lucy since Under 15 level, while Kacey was called up as goalkeeper cover for the weekend game. Congratulations to all three, showing the progress that can be made by members of our junior girls' teams, who are holding trials over the next few weeks for next season's squads - full details here.
