Sutton United academy forward George Vorster has joined Burgess Hill Town on loan, where he will continue his development during the 2025/26 season.

The Hillians, who previously took Jack Taylor on loan during the 2023/24 season, endured a thrilling campaign in the Isthmian League South East Division last term, with a third place finish to earn a spot in the play-offs, where they triumphed over Sittingbourne in a dramatic final that saw Gary Mansell’s and Jay Lovett’s side win on penalties.

They will now be looking to kick on in the Isthmian League, having ended a six-year absence from the Premier Division, and have already bolstered their ranks in the form of Jaden Perez, Josh Spinks and Roco Rees, with Vorster the next to make the switch to West Sussex alongside Henry Curtis and Damien Theodore.

Vorster, who rose into the new Under-19 squad in the summer, enjoyed a fine season last term with Ashford Town (Middlesex) in the Isthmian League Division One South Central, and will now gain key experience at a higher level of football, with Burgess Hill set to compete at Step 3 of non-league football.

Initially joining the Tangerines on a short-term deal, Vorster was rewarded with an extension to his loan deal after an impressive start, and truly shone during his time in Surrey in which he was an ever-present.

The 18-year old was also named Young Player of the Season after ending the year as their joint-second highest goalscorer alongside Basim Mirtahmasebi with nine goals, being bettered only by Jack Arnold’s 16 strikes.

Good luck, George!
