Sutton United Colts is the grassroots section affiliated to Sutton United Football Club, and has 20 teams playing between the U7 and U16 age groups.
Our Sutton United Colts teams play in the Surrey Youth League on a Sunday, and at the competitive age groups, most teams play in the Premier Elite Division.
The Colts strive to offer the very best standard of football outside of a professional academy environment, and our grassroots games are regularly watched by professional scouts from Sutton United, as well as other professional academies from the Premier League, Championship, and beyond.
Real Pathways
Our Cat3 Professional Academy at Sutton United Football Club often send scouts to watch the Colts play and we offer a realistic pathway from the Colts to the Academy for those players who excel training and playing with Sutton United Colts. More than 40 players were promoted from the Colts to the Academy at the end of the 2021/22 season, and we're proud to be the biggest club in the area offering these pathways.
The Sutton United Academy in turn seeks to develop players that are one day ready to play in the Sutton United first team, which currently plays in the English Football League, Division Two.
The 2022/23 season has seen first team appearances at Sutton United from players who have previously played in the Colts, and the Academy.

Trials to play for Sutton United Colts for the football season starting in SEPTEMBER 2024 will take place on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May 2024.
Please note these trials are NOT for Sutton United FC or Sutton United Academy.
Sutton United Colts have two teams per age group from Under 7 to Under 16 and all teams participate in the Surrey Youth League. All league games take place on a Sunday.
Please note….every year we receive over 1,000 requests for a trial. We want to provide a good and safe experience for all those who attend a trial and so not all those who request a trial will be offered one. Most teams will be looking for a small number of players and who prefer to play in specific positions. Should our coaches wish to offer the opportunity to trial we will be in touch nearer the time (late April) with more information and provide the specific time, location and what will be expected.

Please note….
- All Sutton United Colts teams play in the Surrey Youth League SUNDAY leagues.
- League games will take place on a Sunday with a kick off time between 10am and 2pm. Arrival at the pitch will be required circa 45 minutes before kick-off. Home league games will take place at Thomas Wall Park and away league games can be as far away as Bracknell.
- As this trial is for the 2024/25 football season please make sure you are attending the correct trial. Please don’t forget it is the school year from SEPTEMBER 2024.
- Membership fees/Subs for the season are likely to be circa £450 and these will need to be paid by mid August 2024.
- Regular mid-week training will start in early September and the team will train weekly on either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening. You will need to attend these training sessions.
- You will need access to a car as away games can be impossible to get to using public transport.
