Tickets for Sutton’s National League Academy Cup Final are now available to purchase.
The U’s Under-19s qualified for the last stage of the competition with a 3-1 fine victory away to a Slough Town team who had done the double over Glen Nichols’ side in the South Division league games earlier in the season, courtesy of goals from Kai McKenzie, Dan Urpens and Rashaad Drysdale.
The final will take place at St. George’s Park on Wednesday, 20th May (5:30pm KO), with Sutton set to face FC Halifax Town, who overcame Chester on penalties after a 2-2 draw to book their place in the final, though they were made to fight for it by a resilient Seals side.
Goals from Lewis Barlow and Luke Brooks put the Shaymen two goals to the good just after the half-hour mark, before the hosts fought back and got themselves level late in the first half through goals from Zach Abbott and Lewis Corbett.
In the shootout, it went to sudden death with both sides converting four of their five penalties – Chester missed their sixth penalty that cannoned off the underside of the bar leaving the visitors to tuck away the decisive penalty and book their spot in the final.
Halifax had previously overcome Altrincham and AFC Fylde on their route to England’s training base, while Sutton swept aside Wealdstone, Maidenhead United and Southend United.
