With there being less than two weeks until our first pre-season friendly, and then the upcoming start of the season proper, we wanted to provide an update on changes across the stadium for the 2025/26 season.
Cashless Stadium
You will remember back in January we announced the movement to going cashless. There has been an extended period of transition, but we can confirm for all football matches cash will no longer be taken. This covers not just tickets, but also food and drink at matches. Not only does this increase security for staff employed by the Club but also reduces the length of queues and time to be served which is something that again has featured in supporter feedback in our consultation over the summer.
Martyn’s Law and Security
You may recall the passing of new legislation on the back of the enquiry into the Manchester Bombing which came onto the statute book earlier this year. Whilst entertainment venues have up to 2 years to fully implement changes – and we like other football clubs still await full guidance from the football authorities and local government – there are already a small number of changes since the end of last season.
As well as heightened security the stadium is now segregated into public and non-public spaces, and this is stricter for public events such as football matches than before. The green gates in the car park mark the boundary of public space and only limited access is available past this point. With the exception of staff, match participants and a small number of sponsors and VIPs there is no access and this is controlled by stewards. Access to the stadium is via turnstiles only, with the exception of those enjoying pre-match hospitality in the MBA Lounge. Access to all other bars and to the fanzone is via the turnstiles at Gates A and C only.
There is a new internal door in place inside the main clubhouse located at the bottom of the stairs separating the main club reception and the new Player Family Lounge. Access through this door from inside the clubhouse is to provide access to the boardroom and the red centre section of seating only. A very limited number of people. Anyone else passing through this door will technically have left the stadium and there is no readmittance. The door into the car park is into a non-public space until 30 minutes after the final whistle. The stadium is a non-smoking area throughout.
To be clear the Club Reception is NOT open on matchdays. All ticketing queries are resolved at the ticket booths in the same place at the front of the car park or alternatively Club Officials can be emailed.
1898 Membership
The 1898 membership has not been renewed for the upcoming season and all members informed via email. This scheme has not been as successful as either members or the Club had hoped. We will be introducing new memberships over the course of the season. The 1898 Lounge is no longer a members lounge from 12 to 6 on matchdays (and similarly for evening matches). The lounge is now to be used only by players, their families, and sponsors during those times.Decoration and Improvements
A programme of improvements has taken place over the summer with multiple rooms having had complete decoration. Not only are rooms being repainted, but the Club has replaced dozens of old lights with new LED equivalents provided a better atmosphere whilst reducing our carbon footprint and our energy costs. A similar programme of replacing old radiators is taking place.
Across the stadium our toilets and drains have been serviced and refurbished which we hope will provide a more enjoyable customer matchday experience. This upgrade is long overdue and will continue over the remainder of the season. The number of female toilets has increased in our fanzone also. The Club has also improved the baby changing facilities across our footprint.
The fanzone has had the additional investment of a, now permanent, stretch tent covering to protect supporters from the worst of the weather – rain and baking sunshine. We have also reconfigured some of the game area and added an additional table football.
Rowlens Bar now has a pool table in addition to the darts board and jukebox as supporter facilities.
The Club has completed phase 1 of our PA upgrade. The hardware has been serviced, with an addition of greater amplification, improved cooling facility, and relocated to a more appropriate part of the stadium. This adds life, flexibility, and performance. Over the coming months additional speakers will be added, and existing ones repositioned to provide a better sound quality across the stadium.
Can we take this opportunity to thank all our supporters who participated in our survey, and who provide feedback generally. We hope we are demonstrating we are listening – even if some of our supporters might be disappointed in outcomes that affect them individually. We are determined to elevate the experience for the collective across the Club. I am sure you will continue to let us know your particular areas of concern and encourage you to communicate directly with Tim Allison, the Club COO, or through our triumvirate of supporter conduits, being Claire Loughlin our Supporter Liaison Officer, along with the Supporters’ Club and Supporters’ Trust.
Season Tickets
Physical season tickets will be ready for collection at the Wycombe Wanderers pre-season friendly on the 15th of July. They will be available to collect from the car park from 6PM. Season tickets will also be available for collection at each of the home pre-season matches. The Club is also hosting a Summer Party in the fanzone on the 7th of August which will also be an opportunity for season ticket holders to collect their tickets.
